Green Star FAQs

The Upgrade Process:

1) Reach out to the GBCA Market Engagement (ME) Team meteam@gbca.org.au and let us know that you are interested in upgrading to Green Star Buildings v1.1. The ME team will then request you submit further detail in an Eligibility Query through the GBCA online portal.

2)  If an earlier version of the certification agreement was executed when the project was registered, the project Applicant will need to execute the latest version of the Green Star Certification Agreement.

3) Submit a complimentary Technical Question to the GBCA outlining all previously submitted Eligibility Requests or Technical Questions and request that they be reviewed for compliance under Buildings v1.1. Once the assigned Technical Coordinator has reviewed and updated these responses, if required, they will be reissued to the project team. Note: if no Technical Questions have been lodged for this project, this step is not required. Projects wishing to upgrade should apply to do so before having lodged their Round 1 Submission.

4) Once the Eligibility Query is approved, the upgrade will be processed, and it is not possible to revert to the earlier version of the rating tool.

Climate Positive Pathway and Nature Positive Pathway requirements:

In addition to the Climate Positive Pathway, Green Star Buildings v1.1 introduces a Nature Positive Pathway with requirements that also increase in stringency over time.  Projects already registered under Green Star Buildings v1 that wish to change their registration to v1.1 are subject to the Climate Positive Pathway and Nature Positive Pathway rules as per the date the upgrade is approved by the GBCA.
