Green Star FAQs

FAQ F-00496
Is there an alternative approach for recyclers that collect single stream source separated waste from the site?

Yes.

End-to-end recycling companies that collect a single stream of waste that is source separated on site and taken directly to the recycling facility may demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrate that the recycling company complies with the relevant regulations and operate as a licensed facility.
  • Provide a disclosure statement that outlines how recycling company collects and recycles at least 90% of the waste collected from a project. Where any waste is disposed to landfill, this is to be disclosed.
  • Reports from previous years that demonstrate the waste processing facility has recycled at least 90% of the waste collected from project sites.

This approach may be used in lieu of demonstrating that the recycling company complies with the Green Star Construction and Demolition Waste Reporting criteria.
