Green Star FAQs
Are there alternative requirements for the Accessible, Inclusive, and Located in a Safe and Protected Place criterion?
This FAQ was updated on 10/07/2025 to clarify that access requirements for bicycle parking facilities are specific to Credit Achievement and not required for Minimum Expectation.
Yes, the following requirements may be used to meet the Accessible, Inclusive, and Located in a Safe and Protected Place criterion in Minimum Expectation under the Movement and Place credit.
Accessible, Inclusive, and Located in a Safe and Protected Place
Access for pedestrians (from the site boundary and between buildings) to the Changing Facilities entry must be:
- Separate/distinct from vehicle ingress/entries;
- Free from steep gradients;
- Provided with appropriate surface grip; and
- Clearly signed across the site.
The Changing Facility entry must be:
- Well-lit and clearly signed; and
- Protected from the elements.
The Changing Facilities must have (For all regular building occupants/staff):
- Lockers;
- Showers;
- Ease of access to the building; and
- Appropriate lighting levels.
The project is not required to provide bicycle parking facilities to meet Minimum Expectation. Where bicycle parking is provided, the access and entry for cyclists does not need to meet the Minimum Expectation requirements on the basis that this is addressed under Bicycle Parking Facilities in Credit Achievement.
