Green Star FAQs

FAQ F-00046
Can I use vertical landscaping for the 'Indoor Plants' and 'Connection to Nature' criterion?

Yes.

For the purposes of vertical landscaping in the 'Indoor Plants' and 'Connection to Nature' criterion, the GBCA clarifies that the criterion is quantified based on the planted area, where the "planted area" refers to the area of which plants are potted or embedded in soil. Therefore, for vertical landscaping such as 'climber plants' or 'Green walls', the plant area considered is the pot area where the plants are planted and not the vertical area that they occupy.

If unsure, project teams can submit a technical question to the GBCA for review and confirmation.
