Green Star FAQs
Can a project conduct air tightness testing on a whole building by using Method 2 from AS/NZS ISO 9972:2015?
Yes. A project may test a whole building according to AS/NZS ISO 9972 Method 2 where diagnostic techniques are used to highlight performance differences related to HVAC. Techniques in standards such as ASTM E1186 may be used to document leakage, or, comparative quantitative measurements can be used to highlight performance differences.
All other requirements for quantitative whole-building tests done according to AS/NZS ISO 9972 must be satisfied, including documentation of all system preparations, regardless of which Method is used.
Recommended evidence
Supporting documentation demonstrating the following has occurred to identify the performance differences related to HVAC:
- Document any differences in building preparation resulting from use of Method 2
- Remove preparations from, or perform diagnostics on, at least one unit from each category of HVAC systems and document leaks identified
- Determine and document the likely source of leak
