Green Star FAQs

FAQ F-00290
Can I use an alternative benchmark for pathway '19B Potable Water Benchmarks' in Green Star Performance v1.2?

Yes.

When targeting the potable water credit using the 19B pathway, project teams may use a benchmark derived from the Water Intensity at the following NABERS Water Star levels in lieu of NBWeb data, under 19B Potable Water from Green Star - Performance v1.2:

  • 2 Star NABERS Water as a proxy for the average water consumption (kL/year/GLAR) for retail buildings (shopping centre) and
  • 3 Star NABERS Water as a proxy for the average water consumption (kL/year/NLA) for all other building types, where a NABERS Water Rating is available.

Project teams must enter all the variables as required in the NABERS Water Reverse calculator to establish the benchmark. This benchmark shall be entered into the cell 'Please enter Mean Consumption Value based on outputs from 'www.watercompare.com.au', in the 19B Potable Water Industry Benchmark calculator.

This approach is approved for projects certifying under Green Star Performance v1.2 only.  Projects registered under Green Star Performance v2 must use the approach as outlined in the rating tool.
