Green Star FAQs
Can the project team use the latest emission factors for the purposes of the 'Greenhouse Gas Emissions' Credit?
Yes, project teams targeting the 'Greenhouse Gas Emission' credit using the Reference building/Fitout pathway can use updated Greenhouse Gas Emissions Factors within the Green Star - Design & As Built: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator on the following conditions:
- The updated emissions factors must be current at the time of either the project's practical completion date or the Green Star submission date (whichever occurs first);
- The emissions factors are to cover Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions as per section 14.6 Greenhouse Gas Emission Factors in the Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculation Guide; and
- Extracts are to be provided in the Green Star submission to evidence the inputted emissions factors from the referenced NGERS report.
The approach is approved on the basis that the GBCA acknowledges that updated emissions factors will enable project teams to more accurately reflect the greenhouse gas emissions of the proposed building.
Project teams must use the latest Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator which has been updated to allow the manual input of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Factors.
