Green Star FAQs
Which version of Green Star do I use for projects built to NCC 2019?
Due to the as built nature of a Green Star - Design & As Built certification, projects are required to use the version that responds to the version of NCC Section J that the building is built to comply with.
Where a project is required by the certifying authority to comply with NCC 2019 Section J when obtaining a construction certificate, these projects are required to register or upgrade to use Green Star - Design & As Built v1.3 and the associated modelling protocol.
If a project has acquired a construction certificate under NCC 2019 during the transition phase but has opted to use the 2016 version of Section J, they may register to Green Star - Design & As Built v1.2.
If a project is required to update the version of the code between development approval and obtaining a construction certificate, the project team is encouraged to contact the GBCA Technical Coordinator assigned to the project. A summary of comparison between the Reference Buildings of each code, demonstrating how the project has been negatively effected in terms of the reduction of the percentage improvement of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and associated points in the chosen Energy pathway would be of benefit for the GBCA to review.
