Our Policy Agenda
The demand for quality development is growing in importance. Accordingly, policies that contribute to the sustainability of building practices should be implemented, with recognition of the importance of existing market conditions.
Both the environmental initiatives of the property development and construction industry and the demands of users are key factors in the market.
Through its activities, whether it is the provision of buildings or infrastructure development, our property development and construction industry has a major role to play in the delivery of sustainable development.
There is no doubt environmental impact is a major issue facing the property industry in Australia. Investors, tenants and governments increasingly want to know how sustainable a building or a property portfolio is. This throws up both threats and opportunities for the industry.
The Green Building Council of Australia is pursuing advocacy and education activities to promote and support an industry transition to greener buildings.
