It's been a busy time around the GreenHouse. Some of our key achievements this month include approving the
first four Green Star - Custom tools,
BETA testing 28 Green Star - Communities projects, and welcoming two
new sponsors for Green Star - Performance: Sustainability Victoria and Brookfield Multiplex. We've also signed a
new agreement with the Australian Institute of Architects to boost green skills development.
World Green Building Week Launch
David Rolls (Lend Lease) and Suzanne Young (Commonwealth Bank) at the Lend Lease sponsored World Green Building Week cocktail party in the Commonwealth Bank building at Darling Quarter.
When we launched World Green Building Week three years ago we never imagined it would grow so rapidly. And yet, this year 89 GBCs representing 30,000 companies have joined forces to highlight the important role that buildings play in reducing the global carbon footprint and saving money, while also creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving lives.
It was most fitting to commence the week’s activities at Lend Lease’s Darling Quarter, as our host is a truly global organisation. Lend Lease thinks global and acts local, working closely with GBCs in each region in which it is located.
New agreement a boost to green collar skills
A new agreement between GBCA and Australian Institute of Architects will boost the property and construction industry's green collar skills.
Green Star - Performance update
We’re delighted to announce two new sponsors of the Green Star –Performance rating tool: Sustainability Victoria and Brookfield Multiplex.
Green Star - Communities rating tool update
The Green Star - Communities rating tool has entered the critical phases of BETA testing and peer review.
Green Star ratings for supermarkets, restaurants, retirement living and mixed-use developments on the horizon
New specially-developed Green Star rating tools will enable four companies to gain Green Star certification for their building projects.
Green Star delivers green premiums
A new study finds Green Star-rated buildings are delivering a 12 per cent 'green premium' in value and a 5 per cent premium in rent.
Revised Man-1 Credit
A revised Man-1 ‘Green Star Accredited Professional’ credit will reduce Green Star documentation and compliance requirements.
Give us your feedback on Green Star
The Green Star Review Committee canvassed your feedback in 2010 - resulting in Green Star Revolution. We once again seek your views.

MAP BLOG LAUNCH
The Measures of Australia's Progress Blog (MAP Blog) has been recently launched by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Although the closing date for submissions is 30 September 2011, you may be interested in being part of this national conversation on progress, providing your views on what is important for national advancement, and seeing how this fits with the development of the Green Star - Communities rating tool.
The Australian Institute of Management's (AIM) new building, the Katitjin Centre in Western Australia, is a high-performance, environmentally-friendly educational facility representing AIM's investment in a sustainable future.
The Centre is emissions-neutral, meaning it produces as much energy in operation as it consumes. It also features a number of water-efficient features, such as a 42KL rainwater tank for toilet flushing and a 'xeriscape' garden - a method of landscape design that minimises water usage. Coupled with an emphasis on excellent indoor environment quality, the Katitjin Centre is not only better for the environment, but will improve student health and learning outcomes.
