Green Star Design and As Built…the next generation!

The Corso at North Lakes

Even before the foundations were poured, Moreton Bay Regional Council’s state-of-the-art library, community centre and office complex could lay claim to being one of Australia’s most sustainable public building complexes. In October 2012, The Corso at North Lakes, a $45 million development funded by Moreton Bay Regional Council and the Australian Government, became the first local government public building project to achieve a 5 Star Green Star – Public Building PILOT design rating. Kohl’s Department Stores

American department store chain, The Kohl's Corporation based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin has over 1000 stores across 49 states. Kohl's is the fourth largest US department store by sales, and now has 761 Energy Star-labelled stores and 305 LEED-certified buildings. In addition to the LEED certifications for its retail stores, all corporate facilities constructed for Kohl’s since 2008 have been designed and constructed to achieve LEED certification. Their rated stores are 32 percent more energy-efficient than baseline stores, use 50 per cent less water for irrigation and have diverted over 70 per cent of construction waste from landfill. A new deal for urban infrastructure

The GBCA has joined with other built environment groups in a new coalition to push for a ‘new deal’ for Australian cities. Read more
