New high-performance team for GBCA

We’re excited to announce changes to our team to ensure we achieve our strategic objectives, and continue to meet the needs of industry while supporting staff development and growth.

Green Star Technical Development

Jorge Chapa has been appointed as the Executive Director Green Star Technical Development and Operations, and will be responsible for Green Star rating tool development and technical support.  Robert Milagre has been appointed Manager Green Star Development. Zofia Kuypers has been appointed Manager Green Star Operations. They are both supported by Shlomi Bonet, Rachael Lindup, Davina Knox, Jack Manning, Elham Monavari and Guido den Teuling.

Green Star Certification

Orjan Lundberg has been appointed Executive Director Green Star Certification.  Part of this role will involve working closely with Director Market Development, Trudy-Ann King, on expanding the market for Green Star.  Orjan will continue to oversee Green Star certification, supported by Certification Managers Jeff Oatman and Adrienne Heaney.  The Board of Directors has approved an ambitious program of works to evolve Green Star.

The two Executive Director Green Star appointments have been made following Andrew Aitken’s move to Liveable Housing Australia.

Market Development

Trudy-Ann King, Director Market Development, supported by Renee Ashley, will continue to form the Market Development team.  We will look to expand this team over the coming year, given the strategic focus on transforming the market with Green Star certification.

Business Services

Robin Mellon has been appointed the GBCA’s Chief Operating Officer. In this role he’ll be responsible for Operations, Human Resources, Advocacy, Research, Communications and a new team called Commercial Business. 

Commercial Business

The Commercial Business team will include Marketing, as well as the Professional Development (Education and Events) and Membership functions which were previously in the Market Development team under the guidance of Adam Beck who is leaving our shores to run EcoDistricts in Portland, Oregon.  Margaret Khursigara will be acting Executive Director Commercial Business until the role is advertised and a permanent placement filled.  Vanessa Lasses has been promoted to Manager Marketing.  Tanya Parker will continue as Manager Membership Engagement.

Market Research

Helen Bell, Manager Research, will move into the Business Services team.

Professional Development (Education and Events)

Michael Ianni continues in his role as Manager Education and Events. 


Katy Dean will head up the Advocacy team with Daniel Hartin (Advocacy Manager – State Government) and Emma Kelly (Advocacy Coordinator – Local Government) reporting to her.

Operations and Human Resources

Emily Lawton remains Director Human Resources, while Catherine Andon has been promoted to Manager Operations.

Robin’s direct reports in his new role will be Emily Lawton (Director HR), Katy Dean (Manager Advocacy), Helen Bell (Manager Research), Catherine Andon (Manager Operations) and Margaret Khursigara (Acting Executive Director Commercial Business).  Robin will also continue as the GBCA contact for Karen Jamal, the GBCA’s Communications Consultant.

Legal Counsel and Finance

Lynne Harman continues in her role as Executive Director Legal and Company Secretary.  Stephen Thatcher continues in his role as Executive Director Finance.

Information Technology

Stephen Saidi continues in his role as Director IT.
