Site Tour: Green Skills Training Centre

The $15m Green Skills Training Centre is a 6 Green Star-rated vocational education and training building that will deliver qualifications related to sustainability and the environment.

From the moment you step inside, you can’t miss the centre’s focus on environmental education thanks to a 50 inch LED TV screen that provides continuous data on the building’s energy and environmental status.

Elements of the building that would normally be concealed have also been left exposed to allow the centre itself to be a teaching tool for students, including the blackwater recycling plant room which can be viewed through windows from inside and outside the building.

Embracing sustainable materials, the building includes an ISO 14001 certified steel frame that can be taken apart and reused at the end of the building’s life, and timber used is sourced from forest certification schemes or re-used.
