Site Tour: RMIT Design Hub
Join us on Thursday 25 July 2013 for a guided exploration of RMIT University’s 5 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 certified Design Hub. Located in the heart of Melbourne on the corner of Victoria and Swanston Streets, the RMIT Design Hub was created to serve as a new kind of inter-discipinary collaborative design and exhibition space for RMIT students, academics, industry practitioners and postgraduate researchers.
Sustainability is a top priority for RMIT with five Green Star certified building projects across the University’s campuses. The Design Hub has been designed with sustainability, usability and aesthetics in mind and features a number of leading edge ESD initiatives.
The building’s double-skin facade incorporates automated sun-shading and photovoltaic cells which manage heat gain while producing electricity for use onsite. Water metering, efficient fixures and capture of rainwater to supply landscape irrigation all help to keep potable water usage low, while energy consumption is reduced via the use of an efficient under floor air displacement air conditioning system.
See these features and more on a guided tour of the Design Hub and earn 1 CPD point towards your Green Star qualification!
