Site Tour: Canberra Institute of Technology - Sustainable Skills Training Hub
Join us on Tuesday 21 May 2013 for a site tour of the recently certified 6 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 rated Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) – Sustainable Skills Training Hub. A four-storey educational facility, the Sustainable Skills Training Hub has been purpose-built to provide hands-on green skills training on passive building design strategies and emerging environmental building technologies.
Sustainable design features at the Hub include grid connected solar power generation, tri-generation micro turbines, black water treatment capacity, smart metering and data logging, rainwater collection and storage, and energy efficient lighting.
Come along to see all of the Canberra Institute of Technology – Sustainable Skills Training Hub’s ‘World Leadership’ sustainable technologies in action, and hear from the Institute’s Director, Glenn Carter how the building is helping their staff to “show students that this is the current best practice and it's not difficult to learn or apply...Sustainable engineering and building doesn't have to sit on the fringe of the industry any more – it's actually very achievable.”
