Site Tour: RMIT Swanston Academic Building
Join us as we revisit the RMIT Swanston Academic Building on Thursday 26 June 2014. Achieving 5 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 certification in February 2012, the Swanston Academic Building has added 35,000 m2 of green education space to the University's Melbourne CBD campus.
As the new home of the RMIT College of Business, Swanston Academic Building houses more than 80 teaching spaces and incorporates ESD features such as rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, natural ventilation and leading-edge wireless infrastructure.
‘Student portal’ areas serve to encourage student collaboration and facilitate ‘plug and play’ learning, while the building’s dramatic triangle façade is designed to optimise heat load and maximise occupant comfort while adding a striking point of interest to the Swanston Streetscape.
