Webinar Consultation - Carbon Neutral Building Certification

You are invited to attend a webinar on the Australian Government’s draft National Carbon Offset Standard for Buildings.

This voluntary standard for carbon neutral buildings will help building owners understand how to measure, reduce and offset their operational emissions.

It will also give tenants comfort that their buildings and precincts are carbon neutral.

The Standard will set rules for measuring, reducing, offsetting and reporting emissions required to make a carbon neutral claim for whole or base building operations.

Certification against the Standard and trade mark use will be provided through the Australian Government’s Carbon Neutral Program, NABERS Energy and Green Star – Performance.

The Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy has released the draft Standard for public consultation - open from 30 November 2016 until 10 February 2017.

The Department worked with the National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS), the Green Building Council of Australia, carbon accounting experts and property sector businesses to develop the draft Standard.

The webinar will be jointly delivered by the Department, the NABERS Administrator and GBCA.

Webinar program

The webinar speakers will present an overview of the draft building Standard and highlight issues of interest to the built environment. They will also describe the available certification process, and planned alignment with NABERS Energy and Green Star – Performance.

After the presentation, there will be opportunity to provide feedback or ask questions.
