A sustainable procurement professional for nearly thirty years, I have worked as a London based “Buyer” for the fourth largest construction group in the UK & the “Group Buyer” for the Queens’ builder. Moved to Perth 2009, conducted strategic procurement as the “Supplier Manager” for a construction Co-Operative of over 100 Western Australian builders.
Since 2012, he has been working as the “State Resource Development Manager”. At Instant Waste Management, WA’s largest waste & recycling company, employing over 200 people, servicing multiple six Green Star projects, using many different accreditation tools.
Passionate about implementing “cradle to cradle” recycling initiatives, maintaining sustainable supply chains, developing material manufacturing.

About Maxim
Max is a Technical Coordinator with Green Building Council of Australia working with a diverse range of project teams to assist through the Green Star certification process. Circular Economy is a key feature of Max's skillset and a key driver when approaching any sustainability issue.
With an environmental science background, Bernie has spent almost 20 years working for the NSW government, most recently at the Environment Protection Authority. Her 1o years experience regulating infrastructure and industrial premises at the EPA has led Bernie to programs work where she has led the procurement and mobilisation of waste contracts for household problem waste services provided by the NSW Government. Bernie is currently relishing the opportunity to lead the EPA’s Organics team to support councils with funding and educational resources, to build the market for end use of compost and to work with businesses and charities to manage excess food and food waste.

About Valentina
Valentina Petrone is WSP’s Circular Economy lead in Australia. Valentina has unique skills combining 15 years’ experience as trained Architect focused on implementing sustainable and climate resilience practices in the built environment with in-depth knowledge of Circular Economy Design Principles. She studied at TU Delft University, a leader in Circular Economy education in Europe, and has successfully completed their Circular Economy for a Sustainable Built Environment training.
She is currently working on various Circular Economy projects including the development of the NSW Circular Design Guidelines on behalf of a leading government department to facilitate the transition to a Circular Built Environment through design choices and the development of an industry-leading function requirement for embedment of Circular Economy principles within the delivered design, including construction, operation, and de-construction recovery targets.
