Pathways to Carbon Positive

Achieving net zero carbon buildings

As a signatory to the Paris Climate Change Agreement and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, Australia needs to bring carbon emissions down. With buildings representing 23% of all emissions in Australia, we have a critical role to play to lead the delivery of a more sustainable built environment.

The Pathways to Carbon Positive seminar will discuss the key areas we need to address to decarbonise the built environment. How can we achieve Net Zero carbon buildings and what are the options and enablers for commercial, residential, industrial and government buildings, and precincts, to decarbonise?

The day will take you through the strategy and actions you can implement with leading industry case study and project examples.

Key topics and case studies:

  • Energy demand: how do we reduce our energy use and better manage our load?
  • Renewable energy: opportunities to source renewable energy
  • Interaction between the built environment and the grid: what is a building’s role in decarbonising the grid?
  • Carbon and materials: reducing embodied carbon through the project design, construction and operation.
  • Effective collaboration: how do we successfully engage with tenants and how can we best leverage the potential of reducing these emissions?
  • What other levers do we have? How can carbon and biodiversiy offsets apply to your project/organisation?

Attend to:

  • Take back practical insights and solutions you can apply
  • Hear from industry leaders to get inspiration and tailor your strategy according to the options available to your project
  • Understand the benefits and opportunities the transition to carbon positive will bring to your business and the broader community
