Thanks to the Better Buildings Partnership Guidelines, Green Star, NABERS Waste, and the Good Environmental Choice Australia Waste Contractor Standard, the commercial building sector finally has a set of tools for high quality waste procurement, onsite management and reporting.

Robyn started her career in the waste and sustainability sector in 1995 with Brambles/Cleanaway as Manager of the Ryde Transfer Station, Sydney. In 1997 she co-founded Waste Audit & Consultancy Services and has worked for the past 20 years with companies and government agencies to address effective waste management in all sectors.

In the founding years of Waste Audit and Consultancy Services Robyn worked with the NSW Waste Boards to develop the waste auditing protocols used throughout Australia today. Consequently she has overseen, managed and participated in waste audits from all sectors including source based audits for commercial and industrial organisations and construction and demolition and Commercial & Industrial / Commercial & Domestic disposal based audits of landfills and transfer stations and domestic kerbside audits.

Robyn has worked with the Green Building Council providing input and feedback on many of the waste protocols and NABERS to develop the original NABERS Waste for Commercial premises. She is currently an invited participant on the City of Sydney “Better Building Partnership” Group and has assisted in the development of the recently released protocol for more transparent, accurate waste reporting.

In terms of specific commercial waste auditing experience, Robyn has worked extensively with commercial buildings throughout Australia with many of the leading property management companies including: Lend Lease, AMP, GPT, Mirvac, JLL, ISPT, Knight Frank and Charter Hall. She has consulted to Industry, National and International Companies and Government agencies in relation to best practice waste management; legislative compliance and waste data and reporting.

Over this time she has worked for an impressive range of clients: Unilever, Coca Cola, Arnotts, Sanitarium, Ferrero, Goodman Fielder, Snackbrands, Meadow Lea Foods, Toyota, Holden, AAB, RM Williams, Pivot Fertilisers, Smith & Nephew, Caltex Refinery to name a few. For the past twenty years she has worked with the Healthcare sector in NSW; South Australia and Victoria. She sat on the inaugural industry group who was responsible for developing the Clinical and Related Waste Code of Practice – now sited in several State environmental legislation.
