Show your company's colours by supporting World Green Building Week 2011.

Host your own event as part of global activities to demonstrate your commitment to green building.

From 19 - 25 September 2011, green building councils around the world will showcase sustainability initiatives in the built environment as part of World Green Building Week.

The GBCA is a leading voice in the WorldGBC, which now has a network of almost 90 global green building councils. Together, we've joined forces to highlight the challenges of tackling global climate change while meeting local priorities.

This year, the GBCA will be hosting a Gala Dinner during World Green Building Week. More information on this event will be coming soon.

Collaborate with us on World Green Building Week:

  • Conduct a site tour of your Green Star-rated building
  • Host a discussion with a panel of your green building experts
  • Present a debate of sustainable design alternatives
  • Launch a new product, report or campaign
  • Host an interactive, online tour of your green building
  • Think outside the square and do something creative!

When you let us know what your company will be doing, we'll help promote your event. The GBCA will support you with:

  • Promotion: on a dedicated World Green Building Week section of the GBCA website (more than 32,000 unique visitors a month) and in the August issue of Green Building Voice (16,000 readers a month).
  • Recognition: of your company's support in our media promotion campaign for World Green Building Week and in our annual publication, Green Building Evolution.
  • Acknowledgement: of your company's efforts at the Gala Dinner (more than 200 leaders in the green building industry are expected to attend

Below are some examples of hosted events during World Green Building Week 2010.

  • WSP Lincolne Scott

    WSP Lincolne Scott is running an internal thought-leadership competition asking staff to imagine what a green building will, or should, look like in World Green Building Week in 2020. The winner will be judged by Tina Perinotto of The Fifth Estate, and receive a cash prize and promotion of their entry through our marketing sources. Simultaneously, we are raising awareness of the great work WSP Group does around the world to green the built environment, featuring a 'green building a day' on our intranet, and sending a client communication out on the last day of World Green Building Week.

  • Gunnersen

    To promote awareness of green products and green initiatives in support of the World Green Building Week. Internal staff training to build awareness of green building products. Presentation sessions to include the following:

    • Overview of Greenstar - David Fletcher (10 min)
    • Overview of the Green Building Council of Australia - David Fletcher (5 min)
    • Green Product Presentation - Australian Hardboards - Andrew Smith (20 min)

    All employees will wear something green, green drinks and cakes will be served to employees. Q&A of Australian Hardboards products will be conducted at the end of each session.

  • RICS

    RICS World Green Building Week e-campaign on all the best practice, research and resources available from RICS nationally and globally to the industry. The campaign includes free access to normally restricted material and early notice of our Carbon event on 27 October. RICS will be showcasing the green & sustainable work we undertake globally in recognition of World Green Building Week. Campaign commencing Mon 20 Sept finishing 24 September.

  • The Society for Sustainability and Environmental Engineering

    Positive Communities Forum SSEE members are invited to an Industry Forum to discuss future urban planning goals, the threats and opportunities of urban communities and ways to create Positive Communities through research and development opportunities.

  • Stockland

    Triniti Business Campus in North Ryde, NSW will be hosting several events throughout the week for tenants of the Campus to get involved in, to demonstrate Stockland's commitment to green building and a greener planet. Triniti has the first 5 star Green Star As Built buildings in the North Ryde area and displayed all through the week will be information signboards around the campus which demonstrate why Triniti is such a sustainable business campus.

    Some of the major businesses will be undertaking their own initiatives to highlight the challenges of tackling global climate change at ground level. Baulderstone will be erecting a carbon emissions cube in the podium area and are supplying DVDs on climate change for general viewing throughout the week. Downer Group are undertaking a new initiative in their kitchens by separating food waste from the general waste bins and in collaboration with Stockland, will be trialling the use of a worm farm at the campus to compost the food waste. Using the worm farm can become available to other tenants if interested. Downer will also be holding internal seminars for their staff on their goals and interests in sustainability. Goodman Fielder will be issuing their staff with “Keep Cups” to help reduce paper cup waste. CSR will be running tours through their 5 star Green Star office Interiors Fitout on the Friday. In addition, Stockland will be holding a barbecue with organic produce, to raise funds for Sydney Care and will have a guest speaker in the podium area.

    Rockcote invites you to visit the Rockcote Design Centre at Nerang, a multi-award winning green building that embodies innovation inspired by nature. Based on core values of bio-mimicry, radical waste reduction, integration, and non-compromise, the project was planned to achieve the maximum efficiency with the minimum of external inputs. The Rockcote Design Centre serves as a working example of how sustainable development practices can be profitably integrated into practical and attractive building developments. As part of World Green Building Week, Rockcote will be offering visitors a relaxed and informative site tour of the Design Centre that will include a tasty healthy lunch. Come and see why this building was the 2009 winner of the United Nations Szencorp Green Building Award.

  • RDA Illawarra

    Tour of Australian Health Management Building, 77 Market Street, Wollongong. The building is a 4 Star Green Star building for office design by the Green Building Council of Australia. All building owners and organisations interested in green building initiatives are welcome to take part in the tour. A brief presentation on Energy Efficiency government programs and NABERS will also be included.

    In support of World Green Building Week, Australand is holding interactive lunch time sessions to raise the profile of green buildings.     Green BIM: How to claim points for Daylighting and Solar Radiation under the Green Star Rating code: Indoor Environmental Quality Regulation - IEQ4. This is a 2 hour briefing for architects, industry consultants, and those associated with the design and regulation process. This briefing will be held at the NSW Institute of Architects in Potts Point on 21st September.

    AMP Capital Office & Industrial will be highlighting the sustainable evolution of five of our Sydney buildings. Our evolution focuses on what initiatives have been completed in the past, what our environmental footprint is today and where we intend to take the sustainability of our built environment in the future. This information will be displayed in the buildings foyer during World Green Building Week. Apart from the foyer displays, a member of our property management and sustainability teams will be present on a particular day to hold a question and answer sessions whereby invited guests have the chance to ask any questions they may have.

    During World Green Building Week, AMP Capital would like to welcome members of the public to our buildings if they wish to find out more about the sustainable evolution of our built environment. Displays will be located in the foyer of the following buildings:
