City of Gosnells
The GBCA would like to recognise the
City of Gosnells for its strong leadership and commitment to green building in Western Australia.
The City’s Civic Centre Redevelopment Project received a 5 Star Green Star – Office Design v2 certification in November last year, representing ‘Australian excellence’ in environmentally sustainable building design.
The City of Gosnells has been a GBCA member organisation since 2008.

GREEN LEADERSSadly, Ray Anderson, a great leader of our time died last week. I have been privileged to meet and listen to Ray, who founded Interface, the world's largest manufacturer of modular carpet.
I was moved by the words of Rick Fedrizzi, President, Chief Executive Officer and Founding Chairman of the US Green Building Council, who wrote: “If there was a Dictionary of Green Building, Ray Anderson is whose picture you’d probably see alongside the word 'leader'.

Green building priorities’ paper, the states and territories are showing their commitment to sustainable leadership in different ways. This month has seen particular commitment from the Tasmanian Government, in Minister Cassy O’Connor’s requirements that all new building works undertaken for schools, hospitals and community health centres meet 5 Star Green Star standards, with certain flagship buildings, such as the Sustainability Learning Centre planned for Mount Nelson, constructed to a 6 Star Green Star standard.

In addition, the Queensland Government has released their Green Door information paper. The Green Door scheme is designed to accelerate decisions for development proposals that are identified to be among the most sustainable in Queensland.

PEREGIAN SPRINGS STATE SCHOOL, QLDAustralia’s first Green Star - Education Design v1 primary school, Peregian Springs State School on the Sunshine Coast, is already reaping the benefit of its sustainability status, attracting the highest pre-enrolment of any school in Queensland.
Developed by Aspire Schools, a consortium led by Leighton Contractors and the Commonwealth Bank under the South East Queensland Schools PPP Project program, Peregian Springs is the first of seven schools due to be constructed under the program over the next four years.
