GBCA 2015 Vision – Rate, Educate, Advocateby Romilly Madew, Chief Executive, GBCA
 |
This decade brings many opportunities and challenges for the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), our industry and our nation. Our 2010-2015 strategic plan outlines the steps that we aim to take during the next five years to realise our vision for Australia’s buildings, communities and cities. |
| |
In five years time, the GBCA is determined to be operating in a transformed market, where Green Star is a single rating tool that sets the standards for the development not only of single buildings, but entire communities.

GBCA case study - 101 Chalmers Street,Sydney

The Rail Institute building at 101 Chalmers Street is a prime example of how old architecture and new world thinking can combine to create a new green icon.
In September 2010, it was awarded a 5 Star Green Star - Office Interiors v1.1 rating, due to its dramatic upgrade driven by InterfaceFLOR, who has leased 80 per cent of the building for its Sydney headquarters. 101 Chalmers Street is only the second heritage building in Australia to achieve this status.

International case study - Johnson Controls

This month's case study features GBCA member Johnson Controls' US headquarters in Glendale, Wisconsin. This development now has the largest concentration of buildings on one campus to ever receive LEED Platinum certification. The project includes renewable solar energy, geothermal heating and cooling and Johnson Controls' own building management systems; in addition, the rating was achieved by restoring 44-year old facilities rather than building anew.
