From the moment we started the conversation at Green Cities 2011, we launched straight into solutions.
Innovation expert, Jeb Brugmann, called on us to optimise space to create value. Head of Sustainability for the 2012 Olympics, Dan Epstein, urged us to focus on the long-term legacy from the beginning of a project, while Europe's most famous environmental sceptics, Bjorn Lomborg, told us to use our money for the greatest good. Dr Esther Sternberg showed us how to create ‘gems’ of urban space to reduce stress. Finally, architect Michael Green inspired us to seek simple solutions to complex problems.

Green Cities 2011 NewsBelow is a selection of quotes from the conference:
“We hear so much about climate change but at Grosvenor we think of it as people change. It's about culture, leadership and the desire to change and that rests with the people within an organisation.”
Rob Kerr, Chief Executive Officer, Grosvenor Australia
“Real green city builders create location-optimising communities.”
Jeb Brugmann
“If we are to build – and rebuild – truly liveable, sustainable cities, a radical shift in thinking is required. We must shift our thinking away from the old dichotomies of urban infill versus urban sprawl, high-tech advancements versus back-to-basics architecture, and shift away from the idea that bigger is better.”
Tony Arnel, Chairman, Green Building Council of Australia
