Launch of the State of Australian Cities 2012 report:

Join us for the launch of the State of Australian Cities 2012 report, an annual ‘report card’ which outlines the progress and performance of the nation’s 18 largest cities. Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, will launch the State of Australian Cities 2012 report at this special networking lunch. First 6 Star Green Star rating achieved in Round 1
EPA Victoria’s headquarters in Melbourne is the first project to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating in just one round of assessment. It is just the third government department within Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star - Office Interiors v1.1 rating and the first in Victoria.  Read more

Specialised education through the GBCA’s CPD program
Our new professional streams are helping us to deliver more relevant, customised Green Star education. Green Star Accredited Professional accreditations for Design & As Built, Communities and Interiors are now available, with a new accreditation also being launched to coincide with the release of the Green Star - Performance rating tool later in 2013. Incentives for cleaner, greener new buildings with legislation for managed investment trusts
The Australian Government has recently passed the Tax Laws Amendment (Clean Building Managed Investment Trust) legislation. The GBCA provided extensive feedback to the Australian Government during the consultation phase in light of industry concerns regarding the eligibility requirements included in the first draft of the Bill. Green Star – Performance has reached a major milestone in its development, and we are now looking for projects to work with us to ‘beta test’ the proposed credit criteria. This is the last phase of development prior to the release of the PILOT rating tool. As the designer and developer of Darling Quarter, founding GBCA member Lend Lease has leveraged the Green Star knowledge gained from its work on more than 50 Green Star certified projects to transform a forgotten corner of the CBD into a thriving mixed-use development, with the 6 Star Green Star – Office Design v2, 6 Star Green Star – Office As Built v3 and 6 Star Office Interiors v1.1-certified Commonwealth Bank Place as its striking centrepiece. International Case Study: SusCon, Dartford, UK
SusCon is a BREEAM-certified sustainable construction training and research centre that has been designed as an exemplar facility to demonstrate sustainable building materials, technologies and techniques. The building is operated by North West Kent College and forms part of ‘The Bridge’ in Dartford, a 264 acre mixed-use scheme developed by Prologis and Dartford Borough Council.  Read more
