This year, as we inch ever closer to the magical ‘500 Green Star certifications’, we have introduced substantial changes to the way we deliver our Green Star education.

As the skills required to deliver Green Star projects become increasingly specialised, it’s vital that the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program keeps pace with our rapidly evolving industry.

We have listened to your feedback over the past year, and have introduced a new-look CPD program to increase the value of Green Star qualifications. Read more

From a zero base in 2003, the number of Green Star certified projects has grown exponentially. We are aiming for 500 certifications by the end of 2012. Let's work together to get there!

Online Technical Manuals now free for GBCA members

All Green Star technical manuals and submission guidelines are now available for free for GBCA members to view on our website. The Green Star Rating Tool Technical Manual Viewer allows you to choose which manual you would like to view and search for keywords, making it easier to find the information you need. All technical manuals are also available for purchase by non-GBCA members via the GBCA Online Store.

New Green Star eLearning modules

Keeping up-to-date on Green Star should be easy, so we have introduced a new online platform to bring you Green Star learning resources on demand. Short video presentations allow you to access useful information, develop your Green Star knowledge, and earn CPD points in your own time, at your own pace. Kilsyth South McDonald’s has become the first Australian restaurant to be recognised with a Green Star certification. Achieving a 4 Star Green Star – Custom Design rating, McDonald's Kilsyth South has established a new benchmark for the design of environmentally sustainable restaurants. Read more

GBCA Extraordinary General Meeting 

The GBCA will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Monday 23 July 2012. The EGM is being held for the purpose of considering, and if thought fit passing, a special resolution to amend the GBCA's Constitution in so far as it relates to certain corporate governance issues. Withholding tax 'carrot' for new green buildings welcomed but the 'stick' hurts Australia's existing green leaders

The GBCA applauds the Federal Government’s announcement that a smaller increase to the Withholding Tax (WHT) rate will apply to new building projects achieving 5 Star or 6 Star Green Star ratings, but calls for a balance of regulation and incentives in light of the decision that higher retrospective tax rates will apply to existing sustainable buildings funded by foreign investment. Built Environs’ refit of 100 Hutt Street in Adelaide has taken indoor environment quality to the next level through an industry-leading indoor plant initiative. Exceeding the Green Star requirement by over 25 per cent, the 5 Star Green Star – Office Interiors v1.1 certified fitout houses an extensive installation of more than 400 indoor plants. Built Environs have seen great results, citing benefits including increased staff productivity, reduced stress and better indoor air quality. Read more
