GBCA 2015 Vision - Rate, Educate, Advocate
This decade brings many opportunities and challenges for the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), our industry and our nation. Our 2010-2015 strategic plan outlines the steps that we aim to take during the next five years to realise our vision for Australia's buildings, communities and cities.
Five years is not a long time, and the GBCA recognises that we have much work to do. However, the firm foundations for our strategic plan have already been established.
In the last five years, we have seen more than 250 projects achieve Green Star certification. We have released more than twenty versions of Green Star rating tools to the market, including tools for schools and hospitals, shopping centres and industrial facilities. We have trained over 17,500 people on how to integrate Green Star into their building projects. And we have developed strong and successful working relationships with federal, state and local governments and are making meaningful contributions to green building policy development.
In five years time, the GBCA is determined to be operating in a transformed market, where Green Star is a single rating tool that sets the benchmarks for the development not only of single buildings, but entire communities.
We are committed to being Australia's leading green building knowledge provider, and to ensuring that our nation has the skills base to capitalise on a low-carbon economy.
As an internationally-recognised leader in our field, we aim to work closely with all levels of government to ensure sustainability is embedded into all building and community projects and share our knowledge with our regional neighbours, as well as learn from them.
The GBCA's Strategic Plan 2010-2015 builds on the solid groundwork already developed. We are determined to redouble our efforts to ensure we deliver a truly sustainable property industry in Australia.
