RICS receives 4 Star Green Star rating

Thu 7 Aug, 2008 News

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has recently been awarded a 4 Star Green Star - Office Interiors rating for the fit out of the RICS Oceania head office in Castlereagh Street, Sydney.

The Green Building Council of Australia recognised the RICS retro fit of its office space as meeting the 'Best Practice' standards of sustainable buildings. At 149 square metres the RICS office is the smallest office space to be awarded a Green Star rating.

"We hope that with this rating from the GBCA that RICS has demonstrated that small shared floor offices can make a substantive impact on the environment by creating a sustainable workplace." Says Kaye Herald, Director RICS Oceania

"This project is also another example about what can be done to raise the environmental standard of Australia's existing buildings and fit outs." Added Romilly Madew, Chief Executive of the Green Building Council of Australia.

RICS has long been involved in sustainable practices within the property industry.
