New Director for Green Building Council

The Green Building Council of Australia has appointed a new director to its Board, as the organisation continues to transform the property industry.

Siobhan Toohill, General Manager, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability for Australia's largest diversified property group, Stockland, has accepted the position.

Ms Toohill will bring exceptional management experience to the Board as she is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of Stockland's Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability strategy, addressing responsibilities in the marketplace; workplace; community; and environment.

Siobhan has been recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia as Young Planner of the Year 2000, and was awarded the National Association of Women in Construction's (NAWIC) inaugural Sustainability Award in 2006.

"Siobhan has been involved with the Green Building Council of Australia for many years and has played an important role in the development of a number of our Green Star rating tools," said Tony Arnel, Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia.

"The advice and guidance she will offer the Green Building Council of Australia will be invaluable in helping us achieve our mission, which is to drive the uptake of green building practices, and position Australia as a leader in sustainability," continued Mr Arnel

"The Green Building Council of Australia is swiftly becoming a globally recognised crebile leader in property inspiring innovation in addressing the environmental impacts of our built environment and dealing with the challenges of climate change. I'm passionate about shaping and sustaining vital cities and communities and I'm looking forward to being part of the GBCA Board," added Ms Toohill.
