The Real Impact of Green Star: First Ever Research

In late 2012 the GBCA commissioned a study to discover what the real impact of your Green Star achievements has been over the last 10 years. Find out from Executive Director of Green Star Operations, Orjan Lundberg how the environmental savings of Green Star certified buildings equates to thousands of cars off the roads, millions of litres of drinking water saved and thousands of truckloads of waste kept out of landfill. You'll also hear about the next phase of research where we'll be looking at further environmental attributes, as well as the financial value of Green Star certification. Ben Peacock, from specialist sustainability communications firm, Republic of Everyone then shows you how to turn these numbers into the marketing magic you need to get that pitch, project or client across the Green Star line. **If you are having trouble viewing this module, please try Google Chrome**

Heritage Case Study: Legion House

Sustainable retrofits and green improvements to heritage buildings can be challenging, but as Legion House at 161 Castlereagh Street shows – heritage status need not be a barrier to innovation. An exemplar project, Legion House demonstrates how cultural significance and historic architectural features can be integrated with high-tech ESD to deliver a ‘best of both worlds' building. Legion House challenges the Australian perception that on site renewable energy equates to photovoltaic panels and wind turbines through the implementation of world leading gasification technology. The building features the application of off-grid, on site power generation fuelled by syn-gas made from waste. In this interactive case study, the Legion House project team will discuss how heritage, technology and sustainability have combined to deliver a ‘World Leadership' Green Star office. **If you are having trouble viewing this module, please try Google Chrome**

Insights into inclusive construction and implementing strategies on site

The new Green Star Buildings Tool aims to tackle inclusivity on construction sites by introducing ratings that are designed to drive diversity, safety and wellbeing. However, wild large companies are making policies to address these issues, it can be difficult to actually implement these changes on site and get buy-in from the wider workforce. This webinar takes a closer look at the guidelines, examining why inclusivity is important, how it can be achieved and - importantly - how we can have these discussions on site.  Join our experts who are leading the conversation in this space, who will share their experience in implementing inclusive construction process and procedures. In this session you'll learn: Why inclusive construction is important Different areas of inclusivity to consider  Practical examples of how inclusive construction can be achieved How to overcome cost barriers to implement change What is "good enough" when it comes to Green Star and inclusive construction Hear from speakers: Joanne Farrell, General Manager (ACT), Kane Constructions & Founder, Build Like A Girl Deejan Ferraro, Manager Future Focus Rating Tools, GBCA
