Green Star - Public Building PILOT

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) launched the Green Star - Public Building PILOT tool in October 2010 to support the sustainable planning, design and construction of high-performance public buildings.
The Green Star rating tool for public buildings assesses the environmental attributes of everything from libraries, law courts, museums and art galleries, through to places of worship.
This new tool will ensure that industry has access to best practice benchmarks for public buildings, as well as a system of independently-verified certification which clearly demonstrates the sustainability credentials of leading public buildings around Australia.
The Green Star - Public Building PILOT tool is based on the existing Green Star tools, with some customisation and new content, including a revised water category and new water calculator, revised materials calculator and methodology for assessing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as an updated management category.
Buildings are eligible for Green Star - Public Building PILOT assessment provided that they meet the eligibility criteria.
PILOT phase
The Green Building Council of Australia encourages all stakeholder to review and submit feedback on the content of the Green Star - Public Building PILOT rating tool. All feedback will inform the development of Green Star - Public Building v1. Please submit your feedback using this online feedback form.
In addition, the GBCA will work closely with a limited number of public building projects to further test the pilot version of the rating tool. The expression of interest period to be a pilot project is now closed.
