Green Star - Custom PILOT

Since 2003, the Green Building Council of Australia has released environmental rating tools for office buildings and fit outs, retail centres, schools and hospitals, multi unit residential dwellings and industrial facilities.

More than 250 building projects have been recognised with Green Star ratings, demonstrating each building's environmental credentials with a third party certification that the market can understand and trust.

But what if your building project doesn't fit any of those categories?

In 2010, the GBCA commenced development of Green Star - Custom, to give projects outside the scope of other Green Star tools the opportunity to gain Green Star certification. We are now seeking projects to participate in the Green Star - Custom PILOT phase.

The new Green Star - Custom project is the first step towards a single, comprehensive tool which is able to rate any type of building.

What is Green Star - Custom ?

Green Star - Custom is a tool development service. Clients will work together with the GBCA to develop a Green Star tool specific to their sector or project in which a Green Star rating can then be sought. Green Star - Custom may be suitable for building projects currently ineligible for Green Star assessment.

The Expressions of Interest period is now closed. The GBCA is no longer accepting any applications for Green Star - Custom PILOT.

We are currently in the process of selecting the projects for Green Star - Custom PILOT. During this phase, the Green Star - Custom PILOT process will be fine-tuned to ensure we can efficiently deliver customised tools to the highest standard. Your feedback on the process will be vital.
