Industry Reference Group
Tue 24 Jun, 2008 Materials Category
Why is the GBCA forming the Industry Reference Group (IRG) for Materials?
The IRG is being created in direct response to stakeholder feedback received by the GBCA in 2006/2007, specifically with regards to the credits within the Materials Category in the suite of Green Star rating tools.
The GBCA's aim is to work with all stakeholders towards fair and progressive reviews and, when necessary, revisions of the Materials Category credits for future versions of Green Star rating tools.
What exactly is the IRG?
The IRG is a 'virtual forum' that will operate by email correspondence, be moderated by the GBCA, and utilize a special section of the GBCA website to post the feedback and input of the group's contributions.
Who are the participants in the IRG?
The IRG will be comprised of:
- Manufacturer representation from a cross-section of the building and fit-out materials industry
(eg: Flooring, Furniture, Coatings, Textiles, etc.);
- Third Party Certification and Assessment Bodies (eg: Eco-Labelling Organisations, Standard Setting Bodies, etc.);
- Materials Research Institutions and Consultancies
(eg: Universities and Government, Scientific Research and Testing Labs, Environmental and Sustainability Consultancies);
- Green Star Accredited Professionals
- Any other interested stakeholders
* GBCA members and non-members are welcome to join the IRG.
How can you become involved in the IRG?
Participation is on a voluntary basis.
All interested stakeholders wishing to take part in the IRG must send an email to materials@gbca.org.au
with "IRG REGISTRATION" in the subject line.
In the body of the email please include the following details about yourself:
