Green Star - Performance Rating Tool

The Green Star - Performance project is one of the Green Building Council of Australia's 'Green Star Revolution' projects.

Green Star - Performance will provide a holistic rating of a building's operational performance, covering the nine Green Star categories: Management, Indoor Environment Quality, Energy, Transport, Water, Materials, Land Use and Ecology, Emissions AND Innovation.

Green Star - Performance will provide useful benchmarks that can be used to set targets to increase energy and water efficiency, reduce waste and improve factors that influence productivity, health and learning, such as indoor environment quality.

An inclusive rating tool

Schools, shopping centres, law courts, libraries, industrial facilities, multi-unit residential buildings and hospitals - in fact, almost every type of building - will be able to achieve Green Star - Performance ratings and identify areas for incremental improvement. Download the Draft Scoping Paper to find out more.

Working with NABERS

The GBCA is collaborating with the National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) team, within the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, to ensure Green Star - Performance does not duplicate widely-accepted, existing measurements or benchmarks. A working group is examining how NABERS tools will inform Green Star credits and how existing benchmarks can be enhanced.

Green Star Online

It is intended that Green Star - Performance will be delivered through an online platform. This will streamline the certification process and reduce the time spent of submissions.

Current status

A technical working group of more than 25 people from across the industry is working on draft credits for the rating tool. Development and testing will be carried out throughout 2012, with the view to releasing a PILOT rating tool in 2013.
