As any team involved in a Green Star project will confirm, formal assessment and certification is a rigorous and comprehensive process, hence a Green Star Certification fee applies. This Certification fee applies to all projects wanting to undergo assessment and certification.
Certification fee structure for all Green Star rating tools
As of 1st March 2010, the Green Star certification fee has been simplified into three categories based on the size of the project. GBCA Member and non-member fees apply, with GBCA members receiving a substantial discount. A number of additional complimentary services have also been included in the certification fee. All prices below include GST.

*For Interiors projects only, project size is based on NLA.
†Small project exception applicants must meet the following conditions:
- GBCA member organisation
- Project size: Less than 500m2
- Nature of business: Charity, non-government or not for profit organisations
- Annual revenue: Less than $2 million
Further exceptions may be made available at the discretion of the GBCA for projects that meet the following conditions:
- GBCA member organisation
- Project size: Less than 250m2
- Nature of business: Charity, non-government or not for profit organisations
- Annual revenue: Less than $1 million

Please be advised: Assessments will not be scheduled until payments for all project invoices have been received.
To become a GBCA member please register your organisation.
When you register your project for certification, you will receive the following free of charge:
- One external building plaque for your certified project, stipulating your Green Star rating
- One framed Green Star certificate
- Two technical manuals for the registered Green Star tool
- Four technical clarifications
- Two Credit Interpretation Requests (CIRs)
- One in-house 'Certification Workshop'.
The complimentary in-house 'Certification Workshop' provides valuable support and guidance about the Green Star registration, assessment and certification process. An experienced Green Star Accredited Professional will teach your team how to make the Green Star process as streamlined, cost effective and efficient as possible.
Please note: projects registered under the previous fee structure (prior to 1 March 2010) receive the following free of charge:
- One framed Green Star certificate
- Four technical clarifications
- Two Credit Interpretation Requests (CIRs)
- One place in a Certification Workshop
Things you need to know
- Once a project is registered there is a no-refund policy
- Free of charge items you receive as part of your certification fee are not transferable, exchangeable or refundable
- To access member rates for certification, new members joining between March- June of each year must pay for 16 months membership
- Any project registered prior to the 1st March 2010 must pay for their registration fee by the 28th February 2010 otherwise the new fees will apply.
- A minimum of 5 people are required to run an In House Project Certification Workshop. If you have less than 5 people, you will receive 4 places in a public Proejct Certification Workshop.
