The GBCA supports the implementation of the Tax Breaks for Green Building program and commends the Department on the consultation over, and forthcoming implementation of, such a worthwhile and far-reaching initiative.
The Tax Breaks program offers a major opportunity for both the property industry and the nation's green skills sector in the post-financial crisis climate. The Australian property industry, and the professional services part of the industry in particular, has the capacity to undertake a great many green building and green retrofit projects with incentives provided through this program, thereby creating additional employment growth and encouraging green skills in many areas.
