APHA Masterclass Series: Glazing

At this Masterclass event we will hear about windows and doors and why glazing is such an important part of a Passive House project.
After introduction to Passive House, Stuart McKenzie Hall will share his knowledge and experience on the topic.
This will include:
1. Overview of the importance of windows and doors touching on the principals of thermal comfort, occupant comfort; summer overheating and good shading design of windows and doors.
2. Performance of building elements relative to windows and doors to highlight their importance.
3. Two key criteria of thermal efficiency and air-tightness.
4. Window and door installation in detail, looking at thermal bridging, air sealing, over insulation etc. using case-studies from Tasmanian built projects and best practice examples.
Stuart McKenzie Hall is an architect and builder and the Founding Director & distributor for UNILUX windows and doors in Australia. Stuart is passionate about the environment & healthy building practices and has dedicated his 22 year career to realising his holistic ecological design concepts by physically building them himself or collaborating and being closely involved in the application of the concept into reality. This ongoing learning through doing approach has facilitated familiarity with a broad range of sustainable design technologies and materials.
