Site Tour: Monash Clayton Campus Briggs Hall & Jackomos Hall and New Horizons Building
Join us on Thursday 4 July for a site tour of Monash University’s Clayton Campus. Monash is one of Australia’s most sustainable universities, with four Green Star certifications to date, and three more in the pipeline for the months and years ahead.
Clayton Campus boasts the nation’s first 5 Star Green Star – Multi Unit Residential As Built rated development – Briggs Hall and Jackomos Hall. Monash broke new ground for the residential market and the education industry, delivering sustainable low-cost student housing for students at Clayton in 2012. The rooftops of the Halls are home to a 153KW monocrystalline photovoltaic (PV) array – the largest residential solar installation in Australia – and the development was awarded innovation points for exceeding Green Star benchmarks for the ‘Watercourse Pollution’ credit.
Clayton Campus is also home to New Horizons – a world leading sustainable research and teaching facility. This 6 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 rated building was designed for the university and the CSIRO for research activities in the future manufacturing, bio-medical engineering, aerospace, advanced materials engineering and renewable energy fields. The university is currently targeting a complementary 6 Star Green Star - As Built rating for New Horizons.
The site tour will explore the sustainable design features of both developments at Clayton, and you’ll hear from Monash University’s Environmental Sustainability Manager, on sustainability initiatives across the Monash campuses, and what’s next in their exciting program of sustainable construction.
