Site Tour: Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC)

Join us as we explore Brunswick’s 5 Star Green Star – Education Design v1 certified Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) on Thursday 12 July 2012. Achieving Green Star certification in May this year, PICAC is a highly efficient, specialised training facility which has been designed as a sustainable learning resource for the plumbing industry.
PICAC has been developed in recognition of the Australian plumbing industry’s capacity to implement wide scale energy and water efficiency improvements across the community. A cooperative project, PICAC was developed with funding from the Plumbing Trades Employees Union, Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia, the Plumbing Joint Training Fund, Air-Conditioning Mechanical Contractors Association Victoria and the National Fire Industry Association, and support from the Plumbing Industry Commission, Energy Safe Victoria, and the Victorian and Federal Governments.
Sustainable features of PICAC include motioned-controlled zoned lighting, greywater treatment, water efficient fixtures, rainwater collection, active and passive chilled beam cooling, optimised natural ventilation and high efficiency water reticulation systems that have been specially designed to significantly reduce potable water demand and discharge to sewer below that of a comparable building. Join us to see these sustainable design features and more.
