QLD: High Performance Places and People - Understanding the Social Impact of Space

Organisational Ecology offers important lessons for proactive and innovative businesses in 2012. This important empirical discipline explores the complex manner in which organisations grow, thrive, compete, evolve, survive or die.
Professor Frank Becker has become a recognised expert on leveraging the principles of Organisational Ecology to enable efficient, effective and competitive businesses, through the creation of well designed and organised, high-performance work spaces. Professor Becker’s research and practice focuses on the social processes within the built environment. Put simply - why buildings work or don’t work for the people who use them.
Frank is a lecturer at Cornell University, Director of the International Workplace Studies Program (IWSP), Co-Director of the Design Concepts Laboratory (DCL), has published multiple research papers on all forms of the built environment, and has become an authority on the reasons why spaces can be enhancers or inhibitors of performance. His work has helped push Organisational Ecology beyond the boundaries of academic enquiry, establishing an evidence-based protocol to inform and drive the planning, design and management of workplaces, for the maximum benefit of individuals, teams and organisations.
Professor Becker will be visiting Australia to share his experience and insight this February in a very special seminar series presented by the Green Building Council of Australia and Brookfield Multiplex.
