Environmental Performance Clauses & Greening Make Good
Non GBCA Event // Adelaide / SA
Thu 11 Feb, 2010
The built environment is one of the most critical areas in which we can reduce humanity's impact on the environment.
The RICS Guide to Environmental Performance in Property Leases is being acclaimed as a revolutionary document that takes into account the needs of commercial property owners and tenants in shaping our environmental future.
The RICS Guide to Environmental Performance Clauses highlights the principles for reducing environmental impacts and sets out the framework for environmental performance to be included in new commercial leases, and the RICS Guide to Greening Make Good aims to reform the conventional 'making good' clause to avoid significant waste at the end of a tenancy.
The launch of these groundbreaking documents will discuss the structure and approach that are adopted in the guides and how key topics are addressed. The green lease is just one of a suite of green documents now required for the
landlord/tenant relationship.
So how should fit-out guides, service agreements, make good agreements and other documents address standards of sustainability to protect the interests of all stakeholders? With green awareness becoming central to business operation and management, what are the key green lease issues from the tenants' viewpoint? What are the green issues that are most likely to place a landlord at risk in tenancy management?
These questions and many more will be answered by:
- John Goddard | FRICS, Principal, John Goddard & Co Pty Ltd;
- Melinda Graham | Thomson Playford Cutlers
