Green Star AP Exam

The NEW Green Star Accredited Professional exam is now available for booking through Prometric.

The new exam code is:

The material in this exam correlated with the new (v3 based) course.

The Green Star Accredited Professional Exam is designed to test comprehension and application of Green Star as well as an understanding of the Green Building Council, its functions and processes. The exam focuses on 'core knowledge' rather than 'specific tool' knowledge. The exam avoids questions that require pure rote learning (eg number of points available for a particular credit) and focuses on questions that will require a greater level of understanding of the appropriate application of credits. The exam is also designed to encourage candidates to think holistically when using Green Star. We wish to produce Accredited Professionals who have a deeper level of understanding of the knowledge behind the rating tools and stronger capability of applying this knowledge in a holistic manner.

We recommend that you take the exam within a few weeks of doing the course to ensure that your knowledge is fresh. It is also advisable to read the appropriate Technical Manual prior to sitting the exam.

How to get accredited

Step 1: Attend a Green Star Accredited Professional Course. Register online at Booking
Step 2: Book your Green Star Accredited Professional Exam (See above for correct exam code). The exam is managed by Prometric. You will need to contact Prometric / Tel: 1300 368 785 to book a suitable time and location.

Step 3: Make sure that all your details are registered correctly with Prometric as this is the information that GBCA will receive in order to issue your Accredited Professional Certificate, if you successfully pass the exam.

Exam Cost

The examination fee is $150 and is payable directly to Prometric. Please note, this fee is in addition to your course fee.

Passing the Exam

Once you pass the exam, your details will be forwarded to the GBCA. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for new Accredited Professional details to be uploaded onto our online directory of Green Star Accredited Professionals. Within this time frame you will also receive your AP certificate and AP logo along with guideline on how to use the logo.

Failing the Exam

If you fail the exam, you will be able to resit the exam. All you need to do is contact Prometric and rebook. Each time you sit the exam you will pay a fee of $150.
