Green Star - Communities: Australian Urban Design Protocol Master Class
The Green Star – Communities: Australian Urban Design Protocol master class has been developed to support practitioners in assessing projects against the Australian Urban Design Protocol (Creating Places for People). This is the underlying framework for the Green Star - Communities ‘Urban Design’ credit.
Is this the course for me?
The course has been designed for practitioners in the planning, design and management of the urban environment. This course will provide you with the tools and techniques to apply urban design criteria to Green Star - Communities projects. Participants will include experienced practitioners in urban design to those new to the field.
- Urban designers
- Transport planners
- Other consultants
The skill base of attendees will vary, from skilled urban designers to practitioners new to urban design.
Through attendance of the course you’ll gain:
- an understanding of the Australian Urban Design Protocol (Creating Places for People);
- an understanding of its significance to the Green Star - Communities PILOT rating tool;
- experience in applying the principles to projects;
- knowledge on how the Green Star - Communities rating tool can support your urban design projects;
- an understanding of the variability in applying urban design principles and how they are open to interpretation; and
- experience urban design case studies from around Australia.
The master class is not about ‘how to do urban design’ or ‘how to develop an urban design strategy’. We can supply you details of other courses which give you an introduction to urban design.
To actively participate in the course, all participants must bring with them a copy of the Australian Urban Design policy, either as a print-out or softcopy downloaded to their laptop. The Australian Urban Design policy can be downloaded here.
