The Australian Government’s Clean Energy Future package
This month’s news has been dominated by the passing of the Australian Government’s Clean Energy Future package. By now you will be aware of the potential benefits and impacts as well as the range of initiatives associated with the package. The GBCA has a page devoted to the carbon price issue, where a number of reports from different organisations can be found.
But did you know that attached to the Clean Energy Future package are numerous education and training opportunities? These include the Clean Energy Skills Program, specific workshops and training courses on key energy efficiency issues, training and accreditation around the Carbon Farming Initiative, training for the Remote Indigenous Energy Program (building on the success of the former Renewable Remote Power Generation Program) and training sessions for landfill operators, under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting initiatives. More information can be found at Clean Energy Future.
On a similar 'national' note, in late October the GBCA achieved a milestone having met with, and taught the FREE 'Green Star for Government' course to, government representatives in every state and territory across the country, including the Northern Territory and Tasmania. Although classes were sometimes small, the course started many conversations and re-affirmed the GBCA's commitment to collaborative Advocacy at every level of government. Further courses will be run in 2012.
