8.1 Coastal maps for climate change impacts
New maps identifying the future impacts of climate change on some coastal regions have been made available by the Australian Government.
The maps will assist the community prepare for sea level rise by identifying low-lying areas in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Hunter and Central Coast, and South East Queensland. They are an important tool for the community to understand potential risks to infrastructure and properties and to prepare for the climate change impacts of sea level rises.
The maps have been developed in partnership with the Co-operative Research Centre for Spatial Information, and use the highest resolution elevation data currently available. The maps will be made available online via the OzCoasts website.
