Green Star team
Andrew is responsible for the team that develops Green Star rating tools and administers the process for certifying projects.
A qualified electrical engineer, Andrew has more than 20 years' experience in the Australian construction industry. Andrew has a long history with the GBCA having been the first certified assessor in Queensland and having held the position of State Manager - Queensland and Northern Territory.
Andrew represents the GBCA on several committees both in Australia and internationally, and is based in the GBCA's Brisbane office.
As the Director for Green Star Operations, Orjan oversees certification of Green Star projects, as well as revising and updating the suite of Green Star rating tools. Prior to joining the GBCA, Orjan worked as a researcher and tutor at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he also gained a Masters of Civil Engineering with a sustainability focus.
Adam is responsible for driving the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star - Communities project. With more than 13 years' experience in environmental and social planning, Adam has spent almost a decade focused on developing and implementing sustainability tools for built environment projects.
Adam has developed and facilitated sustainability assessment processes for major development and research projects for public and private sector organisations throughout urban and rural Australia. Prior to joining the GBCA in 2010, Adam held senior positions with global consulting firms Arup and GHD and was a sociology lecturer at the University of Queensland.
Robert is responsible for the development of the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star - Performance project for existing buildings. A sustainability professional with more than 14 years' experience in the education, design and construction industries, Robert has worked across both the public and private sectors. He holds degrees in architecture and urban planning, as well as Masters degrees in sustainable development and business administration.
Jorge joined the GBCA in August 2007 as a technical manager working within the Green Star team, and is currently leading the development of the Green Star - Custom project. Jorge is also responsible for the 'One Tool' project, which aims to deliver a comprehensive online system for Green Star. Jorge has an architecture degree from the University of Monterrey in Mexico, and a Masters in Design Science from the University of Sydney. Jorge brings to his role a wealth of experience, with previous roles including ESD consultant and product assessor for EcoSpecifier, and architect with the Buchan Group.
As Green Star Certification Manager, Adrienne is responsible for managing the Green Star Technical Coordinators based in Sydney and Melbourne, the management of all registered projects through the Green Star certification process, and appointing and overseeing Green Star assessment panels. Adrienne holds a BA Honours in geography from the University of Western Ontario, and a Masters of Sustainable Development from the University of New South Wales.
Shlomi Bonet - Category Manager
Since joining the GBCA in 2008, Shlomi has worked within the Green Star team and is currently responsible for the Materials Category within Green Star, and the ongoing, comprehensive revision of the Materials Category credits. Shlomi has a diploma in interior design and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Australian National University, focusing on natural resource management.
Helen Bell - Research and Development Manager
Helen Bell has more than 12 years of experience working in social and market research. In her current role at the Green Building Council of Australia, she combines her research experience with her passion for working towards a sustainable environment. Helen experience working for major media organisations, as well as a strategic planner for a federal government organisation and then as a social research consultant. Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Canberra, majoring in communications, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environment from the University of Melbourne.
Zofia Kuypers - Technical Manager
Zofia joined the GBCA in 2011 and is responsible for answering technical enquiries for Green Star projects. In her previous role with Arup, Zofia played a key role on many Green Star project teams and is delighted to be working with the Green Building Council of Australia.
Sonia De Almada - Senior Case Manager NSW & NT
Sonia manages the certification of Green Star projects in New South Wales, assists in rating tool development and answers technical queries. Sonia also assists with scheduling of assessments and reporting on certifications. Sonia has a Diploma of Architectural Technology and a Bachelor of Architecture Degree, with First Class Honours, from the University of New South Wales.
Ben Thomas - Case Manager WA & QLD
Ben manages the certification of Green Star projects in South Australia and Western Australia, answers technical queries and assists in rating tool development. Ben holds a Bachelor of Urban Planning and Development with Honours from Ball State University in the US, as well as a Masters of Sustainable Development from the University of New South Wales. Ben joined the GBCA as a Technical Coordinator in December 2009, following work at the Community Based Projects venture in Muncie, Indiana.
Termeh Hezareh - Case Manager QLD
Termeh manages the certification of Green Star projects in Queensland and Northern Territory. Termeh has a Bachelor of Natural Resources Engineering and Forestry, as well as a Masters in Environmental Science from the University of New South Wales. She has worked as a research assistant at the University of New South Wales, University of Sydney and Macquarie University, as well as sustainability administrator at Buildcorp Group, prior to joining Green Building Council in September 2010.
Jeff Oatman - Case Manager NSW
Jeff joined the GBCA in 2010, and manages the certification of Green Star projects for NSW. Originally from Canada, Jeff has come to Sydney via South Korea, where he worked in commercial leasing for a global real estate consulting firm. Jeff has a Masters Degree in Sustainable Development from the University of New South Wales.
Gayathri Ramachandran - Case Manager VIC & TAS
Gayathri manages the certification of Green Star projects for Victoria and Tasmania. Prior to joining the Green Building Council of Australia in 2010, Gayathri worked as a researcher for a strategic consulting firm, with a particular focus on the agricultural industry. Gayathri has completed Bachelors of Arts and Science from the University of Melbourne. She is currently completing a Masters of Environment from the University of Melbourne with an emphasis on sustainable urban planning and policy.
Anna Durward - Case Manager SA & VIC
Anna joined the GBCA in 2009, first in the role of Operations Assistant, before being promoted to Case Manager in 2011. With extensive experience in retail management and customer service, Anna is committed to supporting project teams as they prepare Green Star submissions. Anna holds a Bachelor of Design in Interior and Spatial Design (Sub Major Architecture) from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Davina Bowe - Case Manager QLD & ACT
A qualified and experienced consultant with a background of more than seven years in the industry of the built environment, Davina joined the GBCA in 2011. Specialising in both the residential and commercial sectors, Davina has been a senior planner for Barton Willmore, the UK's leading and largest, independent planning and design consultancy. She was also a development assessment officer for Hart District Council in England. Davina holds a Masters in Urban Planning (Environmental Design) from Oxford Brookes University, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology from Napier University in Edinburgh.
Elizabeth Syndercombe - Case Manager VIC
Elizabeth joined the GBCA in 2010, managing a portion of the Victorian and Tasmanian Green Star projects. In her current role, Elizabeth is responsible for answering technical enquiries for Green Star projects. A qualified architect, Elizabeth worked in the field for a number of years in Cape Town before undertaking a Masters of Philosophy in Environmental Management. Elizabeth has also worked for DesignInc Melbourne Architects as an environmental design coordinator responsible for research and development of in-house design resources.
